OUR MISSION AND VISION
About Us
We are members of Kechene community diaspora residing across the world. Our goal is simple to empower our handcraft (Amharic: ባለጅ) members of our community in social, cultural, economic sphers.
Kechene Diaspora Network (KDN), located at Olney, MD, has first started as an annual get together program where community members and friends gathered to spend good time. The gathering gradually grows to discuss issues that exist in our community here and back in Ethiopia.
The intensive social and cultural discrimination among the community members and clear and systemic attack of elders in different Synagogues (Gadam’s) across northern Shoa and Oromia region has concerned members of the community and initiated the establishment of this organization to raise awareness, to protect the victims and to assist the displaced. We believe the material and financial assistance we will provide to this community require our combined effort to raise and establish a network through this non-profit organization by volunteer members of our community here in US and across the world.
